Providing Resources to Equip and Inspire your Home School

I must humbly confess that Science is my weakest subject! Thank the Lord there are ministries like Eric Hovinds 'Creation Minutes' and the 'cool' experiment guy on THC! Dont forget all of the really cool things Susan has on her site as well!

So today I did an accidental experiment. I should just pretend that I planned it and you would think I was pretty cool....o well:)

So here is what you do, Get a bottle like the one above, put in about 1 and 1/2 cups of vinegar. Then shake in some baking soda...wait a minute and soon it will bubble out the top of the bottle and make the coolest looking volcano.

I was just trying to clean a bottle that I didnt have a brush for but I called the kids over and said 'Time for science! Look at this cool explosion!"  They thought I was pretty 'alright' for that one! LOL!

So if you are 'challenged' in this area like me (and Im sure youre not!) you could always do this and be getting dishes done at the same time!.

  Onward and upward homeschooling parents!

Yes. If you use red food coloring, make sure there is nothing under your volcano that would be stained. Red lava is definitely cool!

Mud. Your younger kids could bury the bottle in mud before exploding the volcano tomorrow, as a variation. Always a great experiment, vinegar and baking soda! Explosions always get a reaction from the kids. :)
