Moonless Night! Jewish Roots Mini Studies- The Shofar!

An animal trumpeted delight in the distance. The flames of the bonfire danced in the mountain top air. The night sky, a moonless wonder...or so it seemed. With the lighting of the fire the time was declared! Tonight was the New Moon, and she would not miss the mysterious festivities for the world!

Rosh Chodesh was here! Shofar sounds roared through the air to usher in the Celebration that came but once a month. She smiled a prayer up, past the flaming mountaintop. She danced barefoot to her King, who made the heavens his most, ornate footstool.

Psalm 81:1-3

King James Version (KJV)

81 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Put the commercialism aside. Lay down worldly trappings. Lift His Banner high! Listen to the shofar call!
