Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Make Me A Match! Jewish Roots Bible Study!

Do you remember the song? "Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a match?" Fiddler on the Roof took Hollywood by storm and taught a lot of us about love in the good old days!

However, you don't have to rent a movie to learn about the Jewish Wedding of old. Simply open the pages of the most Sacred of books, the Holy Bible, and enter a world of love with a little Divine Intervention!

Let's go back in time! The desert winds are blowing on the wrinkled face of the Patriarch Abraham. A deep concern is lining the creases around his eyes, earned from years of facing the unknown in new lands.  He calls his loyal servant to his side once more...

Genesis 24:1-4

King James Version (KJV)

24 And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.

And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.

Abraham was calling upon the Ancient Practice of Shiddukhin. He wanted only a special woman for his son Isaac. The father arranged for a bride to be chosen for his son.

The Heavenly Matchmaker made the match for his earthly friend Abraham! The Heavenly Father arranged a bride for His Son as well.  Sister, do you believe in the Son of God? He has made you a match! The Perfect Match! His Name is Yeshua HaMashiach! Jesus the Christ!

Hear from the winds of Heaven...

Revelation 19:7-9

King James Version (KJV)

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Can you hear the song in your mind? "Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a match? Make me the perfect match?"

Isaac found the lovely Rebecca. Yeshua found you!

Prayer Affirmation:

Father, fill my Spirit with the knowledge that I am the Chosen Bride of Messiah! We have the perfect match!

I hope you enjoyed our first installment introducing women to their Jewish Roots! The name is in flux right now :) But, for now I am calling it Grab And Go! Jewish Roots Mini Books- The Jewish Wedding! Based on Zechariah 8:23

Zechariah 8:23

King James Version (KJV)

23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Short and sweet to start your day! Are you interested in subjects like this? If you have a moment drop me a line and let me know!
