Politics, wow. There is always something stirring in the political world isnt there?

This is as good a time as any for us to realize something or be reminded of it.... As Christians, we are not to be conformed to this world; therefore, whatever the secular news media says, is not 'gospel'. We need to be thinking chirstians and we need to sort through the myriad of tv and internet info,to discover 'first source' information and documentation.

This is also a great thing to be teaching our children whom we are schooling. We dont want to raise them to think that watching the ten o clock news, gives them an accurate view of current events right? However , I fear that this is too easy to do.

Also, in politics; we may support one candidate over another. We may whole heartedly agree with one and be vehemently opposed to the other. However, we dont need to malign and demonize a political opponent, as a way of supporting  the one we endorse. We need to be teaching our children to have a positive attitude. Mud slinging is such an unnecessary part of politics. I for one appreciate the positive campaigners , though they are few and far between.

So just another way for us to use 'current events' to train, school and disciple our children. I would love to hear your ideas for using the current 'campaign season', as a part of your schooling/discipling!

God bless~

Yes Shelia I keep hearing that what the opposition is saying about Todd is getting him more votes! Its a pretty cut and dry race here in MO. If you put Todd and Claires record side by side, there is no '"hmm..whom shall I vote for". They are such polar opposites that if you would vote for one you would not vote for the other. No grey area there!

I stopped watching news media outlets a long time ago. You really cannot trust that what they are telling you is the truth. 30 second sound bites and controversial editing practices leave the real truth on the news room floor so to speak. Oddly enough the most unbiased reporting of the Akin controversy I've seen was from an unashamedly biased democrat news outlet. What does that tell you?

Susan, interesting. I hear a lot of folks talk about FOX news being the greatest. I really dont know. Seems odd that they would be so popular if they are speaking 'truth'. Takes a lot of discernment and research to get to the facts I know~Thanks for your comment Susan!

When I lived in Guatemala with my parents, my dad saw the raw news feed from the States. Later when it was aired, the TV stations distorted what the person said and made it seem like the person said the opposite by chopping out most of the footage. My dad became furious that TV stations would say the opposite of what was true. I have not trusted the news ever since.
