"We prayed about bringing in extra income and God led us to a multi-level marketing business.  I've been in it for 7 months and it is currently bringing in an extra $2500 a month.  I love that I don't have to leave my children."

"Stephanie,  That is a good point. At some time children will need to know how to take a test and not be anxious. [well, overly anxious] However, at Second Grade, I think she has plenty of time to get to that later.   Since this child has…"

"I would encourage the opposite (apparently). I would encourage lots of mini-tests. Test anxiety comes from a fear of failing or forgetting. Making tests less stressful help the child learn to cope. As a teacher and a mother, I do not enjoy tests;…"

assessing your children

I was wondering how you all assess your children in specific academics.  I have been finding that testing my daughter in math topics tends to give her anxiety, and even if she knows the subject she is being tested on, she tends to "forget" how to solve the math problem.I have been working with her for 2 weeks on carrying in mathematics (Ruthanne is working at the second grade level), and even though we have spent this amount of time on the subject and she knows how to solve the problem, she…See More

Sometimes I feel that our home schooling gets stuck in a rut, and I have difficulty coming up with creative ideas for schooling. How does your family deal with this?

I am sorry about not getting back with you right away. We have been very busy with the primary campaign coming up and my husband being a campaign manager and all the things that go along with that. I have not been able to attend any Didasko gatherings for quite some time. We also run a home-based business which takes alot of time as well as homeschooling our four children. We had to cut back and just say no to different activities so right now at the season of our life, we have not been able to do much. I do have another committment unfortunately that I attend the first Thursday of each month so that is why I do not attend the monthly meetings. I am sorry that we are not more involved but this is the season that we are in. Thank you so much for asking. I would like to meet you too and maybe our paths will cross soon.

Susan my grandma and aunt lived right outside Big Prairie towards Shreve for years and my uncle lived out the other side towards Loundonville. I have family and friends all over that area. How neat!!

I adapt each child's curriculum by trying to chose one book that many levels can work out, less prep work on the material. THen I adjust each child's material and use a binder to keep it straight. Each child has special areas that need more time and personal work. They get that early in the morning for my early riser and afternoon or Saturday with dad (if they dawdle). Then if any one needs more than I can give I get private therapy.
I hope you are have a wonderful day!
God bless
