"I'm certain you can put a hand pump on it as well as an electric pump, and I don't think you have to move the existing pump (someone can correct me if I'm wrong - it may be different with a submersed pump).  But deep well hand…"

"Attached please see drawing (note we have an above ground electric pump rather a submerged one) (Tom says it will work with a submerged pump...put that makes it harder to prime the hand pump): We flushed the well with lots of water to sanitize,…"

"Thanks Roma, That pump looks affordable.........can you mount that right to the well casing? Does the exsisting electric pump interfere with the drop pipe or will that most likely stay above it? How about sanitizing the well when you are done…"

"Wendy, I have thought about this........we have a registered Golden Retriever-a 2 year old boy and I just wondered what the veterinarian costs would be to do this? Are pups selling well in this economy? Thanks, Julie "

"Another war to collect water: Most homes have gutters or valleys on their roof (places where the rain water pours off the roof). If you put a rain barrel under this area you can collect water. It is great for washing hair, but care to keep it a…"

"Julie, I will e-mail you with my phone number, so you can speak with Tom about it. However you may want to contact the person who drilled your well, and ask them. They should know the details about your well. "

"Our well is 144 feet deep, and we used the shallow well hand pump. Tom says it depends on how close the water rises to the surface in the pipe. Also how wide the pipe is makes a difference. We have a 2" rock well, and once we drilled the well,…"

"Roma, How deep is your well? Ours is 102' down, so I'm not sure if a standard hand pump will work. Looks like the ones you gave on the link are only good to about 20 feet. There are some deep well ones, but that includes the shaft going…"

"My husband added a pipe to the top of the well (just below the electric pump), and then attached a hand pump we purchased at the hardware store. I do not know if he added any shut off valves or not, but I will ask, and get back with you."

"I'd like an answer to this too. We've been talking about this lately. You could run a generator and power the well. I've even thought about putting the well on solar. Faithe"
