The Black Hole of Debt

The Black Hole

I am a grandson (mother’s side) of Eastern European immigrants who survived WWII and indentured themselves to make a new life in North America. Their debt was well defined, life-sustaining, and purposeful. My father’s parents were American-born, but working class citizens, who survived in this country by…

How did your band turn out this year? I found an online help for both instructors & students called www.smartmusic.com We will start our instrumental ensemble next year. So far it looks a bit like an orchestra, a few violins, cellos & violas with a trumpet, clarinet & percussion player...
Our junior/senior choir was selected to sing at the CHEC Conference here in Colorado so we should get some more exposure. Hope your summer is relaxing for you.

Recorder ensemble is in full swing this year...well, as well as one can swing with a recorder. A man from my concert band is coming to class today(!) with all of his recorders to show my students what can be done with them. He plays flute/piccolo in our concert band.
I am familiar with Essential Elements-nice theory & history. We will just be starting with a group of mixed levels. Should be a challenge worth going after, though. We will need sheet music for our concerts....have you used any with your group?

We live not far from where you meet, and I also didn't realize that there was a PE program, as well as Musical Theater. These will all be good sources for her. She's very outgoing, and loves all things musical! I'll leave my phone number on your web site.
Thanks!

Hi fellow band geek ( well it sounds like an honorary title to me). We are preparing to start a homeschool music ensemble next year in Monument, CO. We are calling it ensemble because if we have saxaphones, guitars & violas wanting to learn how to play or join in the music, we don't want to stop them because of instrumentation. Artios Academy was started last year in Monument for the study of the Arts that coincide with history, one day program for homeschoolers. We'll adding this to our program for 2010-2011. Artios started in Georgia with Lori Lane.

All that said, I am wondering if you have any good sources for small enemble music scores-I know we will have to adapt, rewrite, invent, etc.-we already have the makings for a small chamber group, but expect to grow as there is nothing in the area like this for homeschoolers.

Thanks for any help you can give.
