Curious on how some of you school with multiple children.  I have a 5th, 3rd, K, and toddler children.  I usually have to wait until the littlest goes down for a nap to actually teach my K child. …Continue

I am a mother of seven children, expecting number 8. They are 12 1/2, just about 11, 9, 6, 5, 3, and 1. The oldest is a girl, then a boy, then four girls, then my second son. I am truly blessed!! And to find out a couple weeks ago that I am expecting again!! Praise God! I have been homeschooling for six years now. I just about put the children in public school this year, thinking that I needed a break- basically believing the enemy's lie that I can't do it anymore.

So here I am, on the homeschooling journey once again, and I am grateful. God has been so good to me, all glory and honor goes to Him!!

I thought I would write a little up date about my comment from a few weeks ago.  We just finished our 2nd week of school and it is going much more smoothly. WHEW! The whole first week, my oldest wasn't getting done with her school work till about 5:30. I was really beside myself. However, this last week went a whole lot better! :) I tweaked a few things and now my daughter is getting her work done just about on time.  She still doesn't like the writing, but she isn't arguing with me about it anymore. So, for all of you starting soon, my one piece of advise would be....To not panic, but give it a week or two for you both to get into routine! :) Have a blessed school year! ;)

We have always used A Beka, so it's not new.  She just didn't have as much writing on her own last year. Thank you for the suggestions Ladies! I am hoping that she will get to the point that she knows it is expected everyday and that will help. Maybe!

Congrats on kicking off your school year.

Just a suggestion but is there anyway you could select the assignments you want done in cursive and let her do the rest in print until she gets her stamina up for all the work she is doing? Maybe give her timeline and say by week such and such everything will be required in cursive or something like that. You think that might make it go a little more smoother for you?

I am usually like you and make them work through it but I do know from experience with there math that Abeka is quite thourough and advanced. That is why folks love it so much but if this is her first year with it she might take some getting use to.

Oh Sabrina! So sorry you are having a rough moment! Im sure you will come up with some creative ideas to get the work done and it not be so overwhelming for her! Has she done Abeka before? God bless!

So, we started school this week!! I was so excited, but my bubble has been busted!! :( My oldest started 3rd grade and we use A Beka. She started day 1 with a considerable amount of writing to do. I think it is great, but she hates it. Today she just flat out told me that she wasn't going to do it. Then, instead of writing in cursive, she wrote in print. I am making her do it again and she has been throwing a fit and not hardly doing her work since. So, I assigned her some extra verses to write about doing your work well. So, now it is 4:30, and she is finally getting it done! Whew!! She still has more work to do, but at least she has quit crying! Boy are my nerves shot! Patience flew out my window early this morning!! :( Praying this week gets better for her and for me.

Hello and Greeting to all, We have seven...boy,girl,boy,girl,boy,girl,boy. IIth,9th,8th,4th,1st,toddler and baby. We read and catch up on projects that maybe we did not get the chance to do over the winter. Like finally making that castle out of sugar cubes. We also make tons of play clay. Just making it is an activity, right? We have a pool to enjoy and a bike trail when it is not too hot. Mostly my Bigs help out with the Littles and they catch up with friends and free reading. I like to have them continue with art, music and math so we do not have backslidding to deal with in Sept. and of course we have our family devotional time and our church. I keep them busy so bordom does not get to creep in. The house stays cleaner that way and I stay saner. Is saner a word because it looks funny!!
Add me as a friend so I can get to know all of you.....In His Care~Tabitha and Family
